Caregiver Service

The Morehouse Council on Aging Caregiver Program is a group of services which performs a variety of services based around the Caregiver of a home-bound person. This program provides information, counseling, group education, in-home respite, and personal care. This program is not only for the Caregiver but for the lvoed one of the Caregiver. It can provide a break from the constant 24 hour 7 day a week responsibility of care for a home-bound person.

The Case Worker completes a standard Caregiver Application for Service which includes the activity of daily living standards. The Case Worker meets with the Caregiver, family members, or others, and determines the tasks which are needed. They are often referred to the Respite, and/or Personal Care agency to arrange for the service delivery. They can receive up to four (4) hours at a time for service with a limitation of 96 hours for the service year. These services are performed by Licensed personal care, and respite care agency personnel that have been trained to work with the home-bound person.

The Case Worker sets up a schedule for the client, and places them with an agency. The personal care worker can provide services depending on a care plan that determines what is needed. The minumum time limit is four (4) hours which includes travel time to the clients home, unless specified differently by the agency.

The areas of personal care, can include:
