The Morehouse Council on Aging was established in 1976, as a private, non-profit corporation in Morehouse Parish to provide an array of service choices to people in the community age 60 . The Council administers federal, state, and local funds for a variety of services intended to help maintain senior adults in their own home as long as possible. The Council is managed by a professional staff that is supervised by a fifteen member Volunteer Board of Directors which meets monthly during the year to monitor, evaluate, and offer suggestions on the provision of services to its clients.
Our Board of Director's is made up of volunteer's from all walks of life. We have retired professionals from industry, education, medicine, and local business. We have law enforcement, ecomonic development, and religious professionals. We have a mixture of young, and old volunteers who represent a wide variety of our community population. They serve a three year term, and can serve two consectutive terms. Their interest in serving on the Board is advise the staff, on trends, strategies, and personal experience in planning for the best services that can be made available to our seniors in Morehouse Parish. If you are interested let us know, and we can send you some information. The members are selected from the police jury districts of Morehouse Parish at the Council's annual meeting.
